For this piece, our task was to create a brand persona. I choose to do mine on the brand that has been a part of a few key moments in my life. This collage was somewhat personal for me as it is a brand I love. So I didn’t want to reduce them to just a garment brand because they are so much more. I added a few elements to emphasize other aspects of the brand. Like their famous collaborations and support for women. All with the minds behind it, Alexandra Spencer and Devon Lee Carlson, at the center of it.
Admire With Your Eyes
The prompt for this piece was “Don’t Touch My Hair.” I decided to address the racial undertones that can go along with the statement. This is also a collage piece, but I wanted to highlight famous and everyday black people expressing themselves through their hair. On top of the collage, I included the phrase “Admire with your eyes.”
